Valar Deferral Policy
If you select a Valar class and are unexpectedly not able to dedicate the proper amount of time to the program, you may consider deferring your enrollment. Students who defer to a new cohort are responsible for meeting all graduation requirements associated with their new cohort. There may be differences in required coursework and, therefore, previous coursework and scores may not always satisfy requirements in a new cohort.
Students who request a deferral prior to their initial start date can choose one of the next two available cohort start dates. To request a deferral prior to beginning your program, please contact registrar@valar.quantic.edu within one month of your registered cohort start date.
You are able to defer a total of two times after your initial registration. After two deferrals, if you are still unable to complete the program, please meet with a member of our Academic Advising team (academicadvising@valar.quantic.edu) to discuss your options.
Please note: In accordance with Valar policies, all students must graduate within three years of their initial start date. Additionally;
- Students deferring prior to their cohort's start date will have their choice of the next two upcoming cohorts.
- Students who are administratively withdrawn from Quantic may not be eligible for deferral and may be asked to reapply.
- The three-year completion timeframe does not extend the deferral policy. Students must complete all program requirements after their second deferral or within the three-year limit, whichever comes first.
If you defer into an upcoming cohort, the following actions will take place:
- You will be removed from your Slack group.
- Your progress will be frozen, and you will not be able to take any lessons other than the Business Foundations courses that were available before you were accepted. Any existing progress will be transferred to your new cohort, allowing you to pick up from where you left off.
- Any monthly tuition payments will be suspended until after your new cohort begins.
- When the new cohort begins, you'll receive a new Slack invitation, the full schedule, and your courses will be unfrozen.
If you defer into an ongoing cohort, the following actions will take place:
- You will be removed from your Slack group.
- Your existing progress will be immediately transferred to your new cohort, allowing you to pick up from where you left off.
- If you have a monthly tuition payment plan, payments will continue as scheduled.
- You'll receive a new Slack invitation and a link to your new cohort's full schedule.
